Removing history from home tab

When I open firefox mobile I have pinned short cuts and now i have history items littering the home tab. Under the customization option there is no way to prevent this and it is a massive privacy issue for me. Is there a way to stop history items from showing up on the home tab other than having it delete all browsing history and site data on exit.
