Flipping left/right eyes on videos

I've been trying out Firefox Reality on the PicoVR platform and it works great, but I've found many videos on Youtube that, for whatever reason, seem to display with the eyes flipped. They look very wrong, unless I unstrap the headset and look through it upside down.

Is there a way to fix this within the app? I've had it happen with both top/bottom and side by side 3D videos. If there was an option to just swap the left/right views for these cases that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I should be able to help you with this - I have a Pico headset myself.

Do you have an example of a video where this is happening? I think I know what might be happening, but I want to check to make sure.

Yes, here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMN9K0evmxc

Hi

Thank you for that link, I can see what you mean!

When you open the link in Firefox Reality, in the bottom right corner of the video, select to make it full screen. Then select anywhere in the screen with the trigger to open the menu and select the goggles icon (please see attached image). In that menu you can choose from a list of different video formats.

As I am sure you have found, it tends to be possible to find a format that will make the video watchable, however this is dependant on the format/device that was used to record the video. There are some cases where you will not get a full VR video effect.

I hope that this helps.

I already know about all of that. My problem is after choosing the only matching format (3D 360 in that case), the video only looks right if I take the headset off and look through it upside down because, it would seem, the image for the left eye is shown on the right goggle and vice-versa.

I think that this could be down to the way the video was made. A large number of videos and other content tends to play very well, but some videos will struggle to look good depending on the way that they were made.
