[Workaround] CTRL W doesn't close a pinned tab

TL;DR For a quick & dirty workaround to this issue a simple flag change in your about:config will save you some time and trouble. Without further ado:

  1. Navigate to about:config
  2. Search for browser.tabs.closeTabByDblclick
  3. Set value to True

@whalemonster had the same problem I was running into. Coming off of Brave/Chrome, I am use to being able to use the CTL-W (Win) CMD-W (Mac) shortcut to quickly close out pinned tabs. Like others out there, I find it cumbersome and time consuming to have to right click > find the menu I item I want > and then close the pinned tab. Yes, I do appreciate the ability to not accidentally close a pinned tab, but it would be great if we can use the Option key modifier on Mac as that added precaution/step to prevent accidental pinned tab closures. This way Firefox users can have the best of both worlds.

You can edit the question, but this item is not in the three-dot menu like for editing a reply (Edit this post). Instead you find "Edit this question" in the Question Tools menu (either right sidebar or at the top left depending on the width of the Firefox window.

Yes, "Ctrl/command + W" won't close a pinned tab, but merely opens a new normal tab. There are some workarounds using the mouse, but using the keyboard would require to set focus to the Tab via Shift+Tab (you may have to press Shift+Tab more than once) and then open the context menu to close the tab (not sure if you can do this on Mac).
