Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Are you sure the message is from the browser? It might be a false ad. If so;

. Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF
THE PROVIDED LINKS
OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.

You can report such a site at;
Google Report Phishing Page {web link}
which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery

Help us safeguard Mozilla’s trademarks by reporting misuse {web link}

When windows asks if the firefox updater can make changes to my hard drive every time I open fire fox it is not SPAM, when firefox asks me to update everytime I open the browser it is not SPAM. There is a green plus sign on the hash marks in the upper right corner of the browser, this is not SPAM. When I check the version it says version 76.0 this is not SPAM and wants me to restart fire fox for the umpteenth time. This happened the last time fire fox updated, please get this shit right before you beta test us without letting us opt out.

Responding to me like I am moron does fire fox not good, I asked a question about the functionality of this browser and I get some bull shit about spam, that is a fire fox problem that they cannot protect their own program from hackers. I have use firefox for more than a decade and have sent money when it works right without some self important geek telling me about spam.

Apparently you did not read all of my post.

@ kansaskarl,

Forgive me for butting in, but in your original post you don't mention any details about what exactly it is that you see, like what kind of message or pop-up.

The first sentence of FredMcD's post shows concern for your online safety.

A simple clarification would have been nice, instead of the uncalled for response you gave him.

In your original post you mention &nbsp "vicious circle jerk",   which I, being a woman, don't appreciate on a public support forum.

NO where does this mention or attempt to fix my problem, and yes it is a circle jerk when every time I open fire fox it asks me to update and if I do it just repeats, much like this help forum. I asked a question and got information that leads me to believe fire fox can be compromised during updates, and no solution to my issue. So again stop being know it all geeks and provide the information you promised to give when asked when you stood up and volunteered.

And please provide information that fire fox security is not compromised when updating, since you were so quick with the cut and paste.

Thank you

I did an uninstall and reinstalled firefox, I did notice that the version I was having problems with was 76.0.0 the new version is 76.0.1, just though you should know.

Again thank you.

It happens rarely, but sometimes an update has a problem. A re-install should fix it.
