Does Firefox Private Network support DNS over HTTPS (DoH)?

1.1.1.1/help indicates that FPN is not connected to 1.1.1.1 and is not using DoH or DoT. Is this intended behavior? Turning it off reenables DoH and 1.1.1.1.

Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure of what the specific development plans are regarding further implementation of DoH at this time.

To build upon and correct my previous answer, DoH is actually enabled when you are connected to FPN, but DNS lookups are currently sent through FPN's server instead of using DoH. Despite it not being used for DNS lookups, DoH is still enabled in case there are any components performing DNS lookups for reasons other than HTTP/HTTPS requests, so these components will use DoH.

An example of one of these components would be a web extension using the DNS API.

Hi Derek,

Are you implying that when you enable FPN, it disables DoH?

Yes, that’s the behavior I’m experiencing, at least according to 1.1.1.1/help

Hi Derek,

Due to the way that traffic is routed when FPN is enabled, DNS over HTTPS is not used while you are using FPN, so this is currently expected behavior.

Are there plans to include DoH since FPN appears to be an implementation of Cloudflare Warp? Warp supports DoH and DoT on mobile.
