Hello: I really need your assistance...I seem to have a problem connecting to the internet with Firefox...The system says that the DNS server is not available...Believe me, I have tried every suggestion I can find...I have reset the DNS address with several alternate addresses, cleared caches, refreshed Firefox and so on...When the system does connect, it displays the homepage but then drops again...My internet connection is working fine (I am using it now on my laptop)...Can anyone advise something I can do? Thanks very much....

I believe the problem was my Avast free antivirus...Deleted it and things are back to normal! Can you recommend an anti-virus that does not mess with Firefox? Thank you so much for your help!

Let's do this one step at a time.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?
