Display/organize by GMail labels in Thunderbird

Newbie question.

In the GMail web interface, I use labels to organize my inbox display - important messages at the top, messages labeled "Bills" in the middle, followed by everything else.

Is there a way to do anything similar in Thunderbird? I realize that there is a with the label "Bills", but that includes all messages with that label, not just those in my inbox.

If there were a way to display the Gmail tags in the inbox display, and to sort on that, that would likely solve my problem.
