I accidentally deleted the jw player in a webpage (thinking I was making an exception to allow it). Now the page doesn't display it at all. How do I get the functions of this page back?

Could you describe in more detail how you deleted it? For example:

(1) Did you block it with one of your add-ons? Hopefully that add-ons has a way to unblock it (remove it from the list).

(2) Did Firefox ask whether you wanted to allow the page to use a plugin like Flash? There are two ways to reverse that decision: (A) use the plugin notification icon, or (B) use the Page Info Permissions panel. In more detail:

(A) Plugin Notification Icon

The plugin notification icon in the address bar typically looks like a small, dark gray Lego block, to the left of the URL of the page. (When the page wants to use a blocked plugin, the icon turns red to alert you to the concern.) Click that icon to see what Firefox is currently allowing/blocking for plugins requested by the page and see whether you can fix the problem here.

(B) Page Info dialog Permissions panel

While you are on the non-working page, call up the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog using any of these:

  • right-click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
  • click the padlock or "i" icon to the left of the site address, then the ">" icon, then More Information > Permissions

At the top you'll find a list of plugins and most will have "Use default: selected. Check for any that are marked "Block" and you can restore the "Use default" setting to re-enable them on the site.

(There's no Save button for this panel, the change should be saved immediately.)

Hi jscher, I'm having a very off day! Don't even know if this is the way to respond to your answer. Thank you for your reply! Originally I initiated this action by right-clicking on the jw screen, then thought I was deleting a blocking action, but apparent was removing it. I tried the Permissions panel, but nothing was blocked there. I tried going into my AddBlockPlus, going back to defaults, etc. Still no correct page display. Thank you for your additional patient help! vlynn

I don't have a sense of what message you saw. Could it have been a message from one of your other add-ons? If you try a different page on the site, can you trigger it again or do all pages now behave the same way?
