I keep getting a 'firefox.patch' to download, but it's malware.

I wasn't trying to download anything, simply browsing zillow for home sales and I got this 'firefox.patch' to download. Looked official, had your logo and everything, so I clicked it, and bam, my Windows Defender immediately popped up and said there was malware being downloaded and it would be removed. I went to my download folder looking for the 'firefox.patch' and found it. It still looked very official and everything. When I clicked on it, Windows Defender again popped up and deleted the entire file.

So my question is, do you have a patch for version 47.0 and is it in a 'patch' form or is this malware?

Hi

We are aware of this issue are are working to resolve it. From what you are saying this is almost certainly malware.

Firefox will always update from within the browser and not from a random web page. If you ever unsure of whether you are using the most recent version, this page will walk you through how to check.
