I've been researching Firefox 64 bit. Apart from a recent provision of a link to the download there seems to be almost nothing less than two years old and the general context suggests that Firefox 64 simply won't work with some/many of the sites I may want to use. There are no details that I can find to identify what sites are/may be beset with this problem.

As a specific question: Can I run two versions of Firefox, concurrently, one for 32 bit, the other for 64 bit? This would at least help to make more effective use of 64.

The 64-bit build of Firefox for Windows only supports two plugins, Flash and Silverlight. If you need Java or the Adobe Acrobat plugin for sites important to you, then you probably should continue using the mainstream 32-bit release.

Any time you want to run multiple instances of Firefox simultaneously, it is recommended to create separate profiles for each instance. You can use the profile manager for that. Also, you'll probably need to use the -no-remote command-line switch; be aware that this will interfere with launching external links in whichever Firefox is started that way.

The Win64 Firefox should work the same as 32-bit Firefox on 64-bit Windows 7, 8 (8.1), 10 with websites.

The Plugins as said only the 64-bit Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins are white listed to run.

64-bit Firefox for Releases in general is not new as Mac OSX had 64/32 combined download and Linux users had 64-bit from Mozilla since Firefox 4.0 Release (March 22nd, 2011).

64-bit Firefox was not needed in order to run fine on 64-bit Windows so it was not made as much of a priority. 64-bit builds was needed for 64-bit Mac OSX and Linux though.
