I'm running FIrefox on IMac OS-X El Captain version 10.11.21. Pages I am on (especially on Facebook) randomly switch to other pages and then in some case return back to the page I was originally on. I've reinstalled Firefox and followed other suggestions, however the problem remains. Is this a Firefox problem or something other. More importantly is there anything I can do to fix this?

It appears, thus far, that creating a new profile took care of that irritating problem. Thank you for providing the useful suggestion. I'll skip the transferring files portion as I don't want to end up where I started.

Sounds like you may have a PUP which can cause that to happen. Try downloading Malwarebytes the free version https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/ and scan your computer with it. If it finds any PUPs be sure and delete them. Go into Settings and then Detection and Protection and and then under Detection Options make sure all three selections are check marked.

Thank you very much NewAge for the assistance. Did as you instructed but the problem still remains. The program only located 2 possible PUPS, which I then deleted. I get the felling this is going to be a tough nut to crack.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
