Update your Flash Player Version 18.0.0.232
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Note: Windows users must download the “Internet Explorer” and “Plugin-based browsers” installers.

See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

thanks FredMcD, i already have 18.0.0.232 and firefox still doesnt launch our site. we cache content in flash storage to improve the offline experience. we have large set of games used of public and private schools. please help.

There is an issue with some Flash applications not loading in Firefox 40. To see whether your application is affected by that issue (asynchronous loading), you could try this settings change:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste ipc and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.asyncInit preference to switch its value from true to false

I don't know whether that starts taking effect immediately, or whether you need to exit Firefox and start it up again.

Any difference?

Background on this issue: https://developer.mozilla.org/Firefox/Releases/40/Site_Compatibility#Plug-ins

Thanks for the suggestion jscher2000 . I tried that and it seemed to work for the first time when there is no loading from cache, but it fails on second time and after when accessing cache. any additional ideas or thoughts?

I'm not very familiar with Flash loading/initialization issues. Do you want to file a bug report using the link in that article?

Sure , I will have a bug filed. Is the cache access restricted from flash application intentionally with firefox 40.0.2 release?

Sorry, this is out of my area. Do you mean that Firefox 40 doesn't load the SWF from cache, or that the resources retrieved by the SWF are not reloaded from cache, or that the SWF appears to load but does not work? Firefox may behave differently when going "back" in a tab vs. loading in a different tab. Flash protected mode might also be a factor.

the flash application (SWF) on firefox doesn't load content from cache, so it works for the first time but on the second time onwards when it would access cache.

Actually I looked at the IPC settings and for some reason it was reverted to true and I turned it to false for dom.ipc.plugins.asyncInit and that seemed to fix the issue. I also found https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196000 that is tracking the hotfix for this issue. thanks for your help. I think this is closed now and I will wait for https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196000 to be released.

comment on the below bug indicates that the fix is deployed to the server

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196000

however on the Mozilla.org , the latest version is still 40.0.2 and installing that reverted to dom.ipc.plugins.asyncinit to true instead of false.

does anyone know how to get the patch for https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196000?

Sorry, I don't know at what intervals Firefox checks for hotfixes. Possibly the same interval it uses to check for updates to extensions, since if I'm not mistaken, it's here on the Add-ons site as an extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-hotfix/

Open the page; https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196000

Under the big white box at the top, find Attachments, then under it, Patch. Go to its far right and select Details.

thanks and adding the addon applied the patch correctly. I will wait for few days for auto update to flow through.
