Firefox's options are set to remove all history and to always load the Firefox homepage when it starts up. Firefox recently has had a tendency to open up certain tabs from a previous session no matter how many times it is restarted, and its options are ignored.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Thank you for the incredibly quick reply. I have done what you said. I don't know if it has fixed my problem but I will give it time and respond back if I do not have any troubles.

The problem persists despite what I have done. More help would be appreciated.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software has virtualization or sandbox features that may cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.

Does this usually happen after a reboot of the computer or just randomly?

more options

I use the basic firewall that comes with Windows Vista. As for anti-virus software, I use Ad-Aware Free and AVG Free.

This problem happens at random with no conceivable trigger.
