I upgraded to Firefox 4 but displayed web pages occupy only the middle half of my screen and not the whole screen

I've found where I can increase the size of the font but I can't "s-t-r-e-t-c-h" the page to fill my screen (20" monitor). As a result, web pages of newspaper sites have very narrow columns which makes for difficult reading.
