when i view Network Activity via the Resource Manager, before i even turn on the wifi, 'www.buzzfeed.com' is loaded. previously it was 'www.ranker.com'. i haven't been to these sites in over a month. when i turn on the wifi other sites load before i've clicked on anything. i have turned off prefetching via about:config. i have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox several times with several different versions. currently i am using 99. i cleared history and cookies and dns. i even went into the registry to try and delete everything and do a fresh install. how do i erase these prefetching websites?

Are you sure that isn't your own Router doing this instead of Firefox as you said your check task manager and if the Browser wasn't loaded then that would point to the router settings here.

the wifi is turned off. when i turn firefox on, buzzfeed is shown as loaded on network activty. i turn on microsoft edge and buzzfeed isn't seen in network activity before and after the wifi is turned on. it's just firefox.

Then this would mean malware infections has take hold of your computer then. You need to go online and if this is the case find why buzzfeed is turning on Firefox before it's being started. As this is not something Firefox installed you need to look online to find a way to restore this back.

currently i am using 99

Firefox 99 is no longer supported and vulnerable to remote attack, which could explain what you are seeing. You need to update to the latest version and scan your system for malware.
