Hi there ! I have a new and weird problem ... When I opened Firefox in the morning, I noticed that all the bookmarks and histories had been deleted. It wasn't done by me or anyone else. I read several websites (and sure, this site ) about this problem but I didn't find an answer ( actually I did , but none of them fix my prob ) . I try to edit Reg but i didn't find thing that I want. I can not Bookmark any sites. Nothing is saved in my history . And i can't import files that firefox had automatically saved them ( I attached the error .Really tnx for auto backup <3 ). Can U help me please ? :(

> Task: checkIntegrity - Unable to check places.sqlite integrity: Error: Error(s) encountered during statement execution:

If any errors are reported: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional

The places.sqlite file contains your History and Bookmarks. And it looks like it is corrupted.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox. The browser should then create a new place.sqlite and recover your bookmarks from the backup files.

Note: Your history is not backed up and will be lost.

Sorry, this can indicate a corrupted data file, but there are two things to try first before rebuilding from scratch:

First, if you haven't already, please do a normal shutdown and/or restart of your system. Restarting Windows can help by freeing up locked files, completing any deferred updates, and resolving temporary file permission issues.

Next, if Firefox still has bookmark problems, could you let us know what you get when you run the "Verify Integrity" diagnosis and repair function. That's here:

Open Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page using any of these methods:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Near the bottom, there is a section titled Places Database -- that's the file which stores history and bookmarks. Click the button labeled Verify Integrity. There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.

If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:

> Task: checkIntegrity
+ The places.sqlite database is sane
+ The favicons.sqlite database is sane
> Task: invalidateCaches
+ The caches have been invalidated
> Task: checkCoherence
+ The database is coherent

Does yours say that, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.

I don't know why the actual error isn't shown there... it's not very helpful to know that the error is an error.

But unfortunately, it probably means that the file needs to be regenerated. Please see FredMcD's reply for that.
