firefox is zipping photos I am downloading from icloud in the browser, I don't want that!

Previously ICloud was downloading photos directly to my downloads. Now Firefox is trying to zip my files. It downloads them but then I have to find the download and unzip it. WHY? this is adding extra unnecessary steps to the process. Chrome handles them just fine, however Firefox is my default. This just started happening in the last few weeks, I suspect it was an update that did it. I called Apple they couldn't find anything. I researched the internet for an hour with no results. WinRAR has no setting for this so it has to be Firefox at this point. I'd like a fix. Below it says it could be shockwave, guess what? Shockwave will be retired on April 9, 2019. That's today.

firefox has a default download folder upon installation. Do you know what that location was? Also the zip comes from the site not from firefox-if your download exceed the limit they will zip the file from the site before download.

It's going to downloads where it always has it's the naming that makes for the problem. It's also has been downloads of only 2 or 3 pix, usually. It shouldn't zip file them, never used too. It doesn't come from iCloud at least not in the past. As stated it has only occurred this way in the last few weeks.

I'm not aware of any built-in feature to zip files together when downloading.

You are not alone (one mentions being a Chrome user, probably some others are, too):

That third one mentions:

I like to download my pictures from the iCloud to my pc for backup. Recently when I click on a photo and download it, it asks me to save a .zip file, which includes a .jpg and a .mov. The .mov is the Live Photo, which I don’t want and it never did this before. Anyone know if there is a setting to change so I only am not prompted to download both?

There's no response yet.

I have not gone back to Apple's forum to see whether there is an explanation. Have you seen any official follow-ups there?

This is likely a feature from this website and you either need to check the setting if you have a user account on this website or contact the website for support.

As stated above I had already done so. There is no setting I can find to fix it. It wasn't doing it before this month. Apple has caused the problem and is denying everything. Spent 2 hour on a phone call today to be told that's how it always was. It's total BS! I know this because I have done tech support for apple.
