There are instructions to go HERE: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/usernames-and-passwords-are-not-saved#w_password-manager-settings and what you find under "Saved Passwords" is "Import," but that only applies to passwords used in other browsers, which is NOT the issue. I want to manually add an account and password.

Secondly, I want to have different passwords for multiple Twitter accounts saved. How can I do that? It shows me the username lists when I click on that box within Twitter, but not the password, which I then have to enter the long way.

Neither of these functions are intuitively placed/designed it seems to me... and the prior answers were not helpful unfortunately.

Thanks very much.

For the way you want to use it the answer is no I think. You would be better off with a designated Password Manager that has the options you are looking for for your Twitter Accounts : You can look it to that here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=password+managers

Thanks for that suggestion. I chose the one with the most users, LastPass. It's odd Firefox has a password saving system, but does not allow editing of usernames or passwords. After you delete the password, it does not save the new one either.

Thanks again!

You can double-click either username and password field in the Firefox Password Manager to edit this field. You only can't add new entries until Firefox gets an API to support this feature for WebExtensions.
