Firefox enters fullscreen mode when I switch between workspaces and I have to press F11 over and over again

Hi, after I've updated to version 39, I've started to experience some problems. Most annoying of those is when it switches to fullscreen mode whenever I switch from other workspace to the one with the firefox. I have to press F11 to go to "normal" mode, but when I switch to other workspace and then back again, the firefox goes to fullscreen (tabs and URL textbox disappear with annoying slow "animation"). I googled a lot, but no luck. I was able to "fix" it for about one hour by switching "browser.fullscreen.autohide" to FALSE and then to TRUE again, but it's happening again. So now i just switched it to "FALSE", which solves my immediate problem as I don't have to press F11 over and over again, but now fullscreen mode is unavailable even if I want it.

I use 64bit debian linux and xmonad window manager (this may or may not be related, I don't know.

What to do to reproduce my problem: 1) open maximized firefox on workspace 1 and make sure it is not in fullscreen mode 2) switch to workspace 2 (WIN+2 on my system) 3) switch to workspace 1 where firefox is (WIN+1 on my system) 4) firefox slowly goes to fullscreen mode 2,3,4 can be repeated over and over again with the same result.

Also I have experienced perhaps related minor problem - when I was about to change workspaces, I pressed WIN key first, and suddenly "Page Info" window appeared.. I was not able to reproduce this problem though..

I know that firefox is free and I've paid no money for it, so I probably have no right to complain, but it drives me crazy. With almost every update there is something which breaks, something that went missing, something that breaks some extension, something that no longer works or something which is very annoying to use with actual mouse on actual desktop computer instead of smearing my fat fingers on a dirty tablet's screen. I know that you probably think that anyone using mouse or desktop computer is a total dinosaur, and therefore has no right to live, not to mention the right to work on his computer.. But I beg you - can't you just try to make UI changes and functionality changes less annoying? I really hate it when I have to choose between having updated browser with broken UI or vulnerable browser which I can actualy use without googling how to fix new "features".. I really don't want to use chrome, but after all this updates, UI changes and removed features, firefox is almost just a slower chrome anyway :(

Try the version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
