I currently have "Lage Icons & Text" selected for my toolbars items. I really need them both unfortunately, some of he text chews up a lot of space. I would like to find a way to edit them shorter. For instance, "Zoom In" becomes "Z In"or "Adblock Plus" becomes "Adblock"

I'm sure there's away I just can't find it.

Thanks

You seem to be using a very old Firefox 23 version according to the System Detail list attached to your question. Any particular reason why you haven't updated to the current release?

You can't make these changes via built-in Firefox means. You would have have to edit files in the extension in case of button added by an extension or overlay built-in files with modified versions that change label names. Currently all extensions are signed and you can't modify files in the extension as that would invalidate the signing manifest.
