Hold Ctrl, then scroll up until the text has reached the size you want, then release Ctrl. Scroll down if you want it smaller.

I went in to my hot mail held the ctrl down scrolled up and nothing happend.
If you are composing a new mail ten you may need to check the font size that is currently selected via one of the editor's toolbar buttons. --- Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.
