Which plugin(s) do I need in order to watch Al Jazeera English on my Mac?
I've been trying to watch Al Jazeera English live on my Macbook, but when I try, I receive a message that I need to install a plugin. When I tell Firefox to find the plugin, it can't, and if I have hit play on the live video, Firefox crashes a few seconds later and has to restart. Can anyone help me, please?

Hello Bob_Elkin and other readers,
Running Windows XP-home 32 bit – Firefox 3.6.13 myself. When opening the live-stream of Al Jazeera English Firefox tells me a plug-in is missing. Clicking on the plug-in-bar Firefox asks me if I want to install the Real-player plug-in. Haven't tried it myself. You might consider to download the Real-player from: www.real.com/realplayer
Good luck, Websafe.
Thanks for your help, but I've already got Real Player. Must be something else missing. I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks again.
The RealPlayer doesn't show in your More system details list.
The Live stream page (http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/) uses a Flash player.
You have the Flash plugin installed, so that should be working.
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
Cor-el is right, the live-stream of Al Jazeera English uses Flash. My NoScript extension blocked the Flash-player. The website request for the REAL-player has confused me. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Websafe.
Hi - I found a tip on another board. If you right click on the flash player (or two finger click I guess in mac speak) you will see a settings box. "To make the video display without crashing Firefox, I had to do what georgek above did: disable hardware acceleration in Flash. However, I couldn't do it in the Flash window on the Al Jazeera web page. Everytime I right clicked and selected Settings, the settings dialogue box was grayed out and I couldn't make any changes. "
Same for all of us - but only - strangely - on Al Jazeera's page. In my Facebook account, where one of my games are that use the Flash player also (TikiResort) it is not grayed out and I was able to deselect it. When I went back to Al Jazeera I looked again - and voila! Deselected and AlJE is playing.
The other post suggested something more complex about going to Macromedia's site and doing the same thing - but it seems to me any other instance of Flash player will do.
