Firefox instruction for increasing font size does not work for me; tried several times

Without my knowingly changing anything, the font size on my gmail handler ( boith message lists, messages and compose messages suddenly appeared in tiny almost unreadable. I went to Firefox help, followed the instructions there for increasing font size ( Tools/Options/ font, etc but nothing happened. I tried restarting but the tiny text persists. Has nothing to do with web sites- only Gmail

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
