Recently Bookmarked is a so called smart folder. Smart folders show a list of bookmarks that are stored elsewhere, so that bookmark must be present in another bookmarks folder.

• If you click the star in the location bar then the page will be bookmarked in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns yellow (blue on Mac) to show that.
• You can see the Unsorted Bookmarks folder in the sidebar and the Library, but not in the Bookmarks menu.
• If you use "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) then the bookmark will go to the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that).
• If the URL in the location bar is bookmarked (star at the far right end is yellow/blue) then you can click the star or use the Bookmark menu item (Bookmark This Page, (Ctrl+D) to edit the properties of the bookmark (name, location, folder) and move it to another folder or remove the bookmark.

thank you cor-el ... i really appreciate your help. i have learned a few things from you, thank you ... but i am still having the same problem. when i Bookmark>Bookmark This Page, it does bring up the box with the blue star and the name, and Bookmark Menu .... then there is a drop down box next to Bookmark Menu, with up and down arrows, when i click that box, it shows "Choose" and also a few names of existing folders that i have recently used.... then there are 2 problems: 1) if i click on 'choose' it does not show me the complete list of folders ... some are missing ... (the ones i've added since i've been having this problem are not there). 2)when i click on one of the folders names, and click 'done', then when i go look in that folder, the new bookmark is not there ... it does, however, show up in 'recently bookmarked'. i understand you said this is a smart folder and that it must be somewhere else ... but i can't find where. i can go to the Library and highlight 'recently bookmarked' and drag and drop it into the folder i want it in ... it goes there, and also duplicates itself in the 'recently bookmarked' folder. ... but that is a ridiculous extra step. i've been using Firefox and bookmarks for several years now, and this has just recently started happening. i am sure that i clicked something somewhere, by mistake, ... but i don't know how to get it back to the way it was. i sure hope you can help, because this is really frustrating. looking forward to your next insight Donna

It sounds that the bookmark ends up in the correct folder, but that for some reason you do not see the contents of that folder.

thanks again for trying. after reading those topics, that really isn't what is happening in my situation ..... where do i go next, or who might be able to help. also, do you have any idea why some of my folders do not show up in the Bookmark Menu drop down box when i am in Bookmark this page  ?
