Error: Sending of password for user xxx@yahoo.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - Please try again later.

I have three Yahoo email accounts. Few days ago, one of them stopped working under TB. Cannot send or receive. At Yahoo's website all the emails are being received and sent properly. That account works fine in my Apple cellphone too. Just doesn't work in TB.

OS: Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon TB: 68.10.0 (64-bit)

Have deleted account password in TB, and reentered after booting TB. Nothing was touched in Account Settings, though have checked everything (servers, etc.).

What else should I be looking for?

Thank you.

Change the authentication on the incoming and outgoing to OAuth2, check that cookies are allowed in TB Edit/Preferences/Privacy, remove saved passwords, then restart TB and enter the account password in the OAuth window when prompted.

What's the authentication method for the Yahoo accounts? OAuth2 or normal password?

Thank you for your response sfhowes. Authentication method is Normal Password for all three accounts.

Thanks once again for your very prompt and helpful responses sfhowes. Cookies were allowed, but changed the authentication to OAuth2 per your suggestion.

Things back to normal; everything works. The reason for my confusion was, and still is, as to how my other two Yahoo email accounts work with 'Normal Password' as the authentication method. Ah! The mysteries of software.

Going back and rechecking Yahoo meticulously, found this: http://mzl.la/1BsOxvP, which states what you suggested.

Thanks again.

I changed the authentication to OAuth2, removed the saved passwords, and allowed cookies. After closing and restarting, I enter my password and then get the message "The server does not support the selected authentication method." This is for AT&T Mail. Any other ideas?

OAuth2 is for Yahoo servers, even though AT&T mail is Yahoo-based. For AT&T, use 'normal password' and a secure mail key in place of the password:
