New email addresses, (& a new ISP), don't work

Nuts4Mutts

Hi! I recently switched ISPs when I moved, but none of the new email addresses I've tried get, "Authorized", by Thunderbird. I checked to make sure that the Ports for POP 3 & SMTP were correct, & I know my passwords & other user info is correct, but for some reason, I always get a message box about "not being authorized", or "could not be verified" or even insisting that I entered the info wrong. I even tried to use my G-Mail address, as I know that's "approved", but I got an error message referring me to a G-Mail solution on their site, answer "78754". I read the post, but it kept referring to IMAP accounts & I'm using POP 3, so I just gave up! Am I missing something when trying to set up my new email addresses? I went from Comcast to Verizon, (from the frying pan into the fire, I guess!), but I didn't think I had to do anything special to Thunderbird when I was forced to make the ISP switch...do I? Hope somebody knows what I'm doing wrong, as I have to get Thunderbird working again! It IS up-to-date...I think it's 45.6.0. Any helpful suggestions will be gratefully appreciated! Many thanks, & Happy New Year to you & yours! Nuts4Mutts

Verizon email is operated by Yahoo. You may need to 'allow less secure apps' in your Yahoo settings. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27791.html

Thanks for the reply, but I don't have anything on my PC that's related to Yahoo...or is it built-in somewhere & I'm just not aware of it???

If so, where/how do I make the necessary changes so I can receive my email in Thunderbird.

Also, can Thunderbird receive mail for my gmail.com account? I try to avoid using anything Google-related, but I don't know how to make the change from Comcast, (where I could make several email addresses), to Verizon...where I can't get my email addresses to get verified! Change is never easy, right???

Thanks again for your help!

At the yahoo website. Follow christ1's link and log in to yahoo email using your verizon credentials.

Yep. just add the account. File|New|Existing Mail Account… - you may need to go to your email account settings on the gmail website and enable POP or IMAP before doing this.

Thanks! Wish me luck...it looks like I'm gonna need some! ;)

Happy New Year to everyone!
