Recently I have to keep signing into my email account to download new messages or do anything with emails. I am with BT and Yahoo but use Thunderbird for my emails. When I open Thunderbird often it will come up with the password box asking me to enter a new password. I then have to go into Yahoo and sign into my account there before being able t download my emails in Thunderbird.

I have similar problems in Thunderbird, but only with bt email accounts. I'd hoped it might improve when they switched provisioning from Yahoo to Critical Path, but alas, no. Maybe I should investigate if there are any timeout settings that could make Thunderbird more tolerant of a tardy response.

My advice to you is to find a more competent email provider.

Sorry I have only just seen your reply. Thanks for that. I have had the same settings, same laptop even, I am still on XP, for a long time now, and it is only within the last 6 weeks I have had the problem. My Yahoo account appears to keep working if I don`t try and connect Thunderbird. As soon as I try and sign into Thunderbird, 5 min and it signs out, I have to go into Yahoo, sometime sign out and then in again or if yahoo have lost connection, sign in again. It is as if something has changed in the last few weeks
