Thunderbird Accessibility Features - High Contrast

I use Windows 7 in High-Contrast mode - inverted colors, where the background is black and the foreground text is yellow. Most desktop applications detect this mode and conform accordingly but there are always some inconsistencies. Web browsers not only display the application in HC but also the web sites that are accessed and displayed. But, in almost each instance, the options pages of not display in HC - they still have the usual white background with varying levels or readability of the foreground text. This behavior also seems to extend to desktop email clients - in this case, Thunderbird. I wanted to filter my inbox to show only those messages by a certain sender. I entered the email address in the search box and the results page displays with the white background. Is there any way to get these results to display in HC mode, the same as most of the other screens in TB? I'm a long time Outlook user, and would like to switch for various reasons - but there are a few features I've come to depend on that would be nice if they were in TB, or maybe there's in there but I just can't find them. 1. Is the list of emails, is there any way to display the first 2-3 sentences below the subject line? 2. What is the correct way to search or filter a mail folder? Do the "Filter" button and search text entry box do two separate things? I would like to be able to make these work and keep TB as my default email client. The tabs are really helpful when dealing with multiple conversations, something I haven't seen in any other client.
