Followed instructions to import outlook mail - it just started but then closed with no error message

Windows 7 machine. I successfully brought across outlook contents from old XP machine to Outlook 2013 on new machine; however couldn't read messages from my ISP. Tried all sorts of solutions but finally decided to use TB and am successfully receiving and sending email. Would like to import all my old emails from OL13. Followed usual instructions but as soon as it started it finished with no message - just closed down.

If you have Outlook and thunderbird on the same computer , you must set Outlook as the default email client before trying to import to Thunderbird.

Either: Read section called Windows 7 at above link to move emails into another windows email program eg: Windows Live, from which you export the emails as .eml files and then use the ImportExporttool to import the .eml files. OR use a tool to save all Outlook emails in .eml format and then use ImportExporttool to import the .eml files. there may be other programs you could use, i located this one, but I'm not promoting it and have never used it. eg; http://www.outlookextractor.com/2012/10/outlook-to-eml.html
