after install of firefox 4 no refresh or stop button and home button on the har side of the google search bar under the close page how do i put the buttons back were they belongby the back button?
i uninstalled and re installed and same thing even used a different install file it installed fine on laptop had to go back to firefox 3.something till someone can tell me whats wrong

Firefox 4 uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar. During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button. If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button. You can middle-click that Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab. --- You can find the Home button at the far right end of the Navigation Toolbar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
Drag the Home button from its current position at the right to the previous position at the left of the location bar.
- Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
- Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
- Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

good theory, bad execution. The "combined Stop/Reload/Go button" doesn't exist on my toolbar. I assume the answer is to reload Firefox every few minutes - a bit clumsy.
If you are missing toolbar buttons then you may have a problem with the file localstore.rdf.

To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
- Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
- Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
- Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.

I see Mozilla is taking the same approach as Micro$oft. If it ain't broke fix it anyway and while your at it hide everything you can from the user. Make your changes so radical that the user has to learn a whole new way of doing things that were accomplished just as easily the old way. Just change everything for change's sake. After over a decade of using and loving Firefox, I'm going to have to look around at the browsers others offer because I just don't like the new look and feel of Firefox.
Thanks for the information. I was having the same problem with the buttons not appearing in the customize menu. So, I want to share how I was able to actually fix it.
Also, when I went to Options... there was not a Toolbar layout option that I could find.
Here is how I fixed it:
1. Right click on the toolbar icon (probably appears as a refresh icon) 2. In the pop-up window: change the view from "icon" to "icon and text." -(this drop down menu is in the bottom-left corner of the pop-up window) 3. NOW you will see the lovely STOP button appear in the toolbar. 4. Not done yet! If you close the window now, the toolbar will reset to the combined button. :( 5. On the toolbar itself: Drag the Stop button icon to the LEFT side of the Refresh button icon. 6. NOW, when you close your customize window- you will see separate stop and refresh icons!
