Why is there no longer a security icon in the lower right corner of the page showing it is a secure page using Firefox 4?
Having just installed Firefox 4, I went to log into my email account and can not do so because I no longer know if I am on a secure page. The security icon (Small lock in bottom right corner of the page) is no longer there telling me I am on a secure page. Unfortunately I am now going to have to return to using Internet Explorer. Please send out a notification if you ever change this situation so I can return to using Firefox.

The padlock is no longer a part of Firefox; it can give users a false sense that a site is secure by not supplying all of the information about a site. Familiarize yourself with the Site Identity Button in Firefox:

You can install an add-on to show a padlock in the URL/Location/Address bar:
You need to update the following plugin:
- Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_23 for Mozilla browsers
- Check your plugin versions on either of the following links':
- https://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
- Note: plugin check page does not have information on all plugin versions
- Update the Java plugin to the latest version.
- Download site: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html (Java Platform: Download JRE)
- Be sure to un-check the Yahoo Toolbar option during the install if you do not want it installed.

I am having this problem too. I can't go to my banking website, the YMCA, for crying out loud, or even CNN! What gives? In trying to update the plug ins, as you suggested above, it wouldn't even load up the Quicktime site because of the identity information! So now I can't even update the plug ins? How am I supposed to fix this problem? I don't want to go back to IE, but I may have to if I can't even go to my online banking. Unbelievable!
