I have been trying to install "Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82" over a few month now, but every time I try it is not being applied, because when I open Add-ons it is still version 9.3.4.218, yet it still says the install was displayed as successful?

As the question states I am having problem with "Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82". I am using Firefox Version 3.6.10 on a 64 bit Win7. I have tried to install the application for months and without success. Chrome works fine with the same application on the same computer. The problem is installation is successful but Firefox does not apply the upgraded file. Why? I don't know, but I would love to get this figured out. Thanks

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

If not, see this:

Your list of plugins shows that you have Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 installed. For info, there has recently been an update for Flash, the latest version is now 10.r r85

Version 9.3.4.218 is the Adobe PDF reader/Acrobat version.

Yes I still have the problem running in SafeMode. Here is the message I keep getting, for trying to open yahoo apps.

Please get the latest Adobe Flash Player. This content requires the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. You have an older version (Your version: 10.1.82, Minimum required: 10.1.85.3). Get the latest Flash player.

It's unusual for a site to require at least 10.1.85.3, but you can get it by using the Adobe Flash manual installers, for details see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

The weird thing is the same link to the download installed on Firefox 4.0 works with the app, still doesn't work for Firefox 3.8.

Sorry I meant Firefox 3.6.10. I had a theme applied that partially blocked the "About Mozilla Firefox", couldn't read it right, just changed my theme and saw I had made a mistake on that.

The technical issue is still going on, I read "http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes" giving all the suggestions a try, hopefully the issue will go away. Thanks to all who are trying to help! ; }

Hello...

It is awesome, I went to safemode and it worked. The first time I went into safemode, oops my bad I clicked on the wrong Firefox in the folder in start menu I think, I couldn't tell the difference there was no indication. And this time I opened safemode it actually has indication, a window pop up asking for what I wanted to do before continuing in safemode.

It must be my theme, because the theme changed to default for Firefox 4.0. The theme I had applied was not compatible with 4.0. That also changed my theme for Firefox 3.6.10, now problem solved thanks everyone for support! : }

The reason is that Flash Player does not run in most 64-bit browsers. It can be installed in a 32-bit browser even if the OS is 64-bit. OR You can download a preview release of Flash Player with the codename "Square" that includes full support for 64-bit Web browsers on Windows, Mac and Linux computers from Adobe Labs (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html). The preview release installs into 64-bit Web browsers, so you do not need to use a 32-bit browser. I preferred the second method.
