I have been using Firefox Preview. I had previously been able to easily find and download it direct from the mozilla website, which I prefer, but now it appears to have disappeared, seemingly off the face of the earth, when I follow any download for links for Android on your website I only ever find Firefox for Android or beta, the service names for these I believe is fennec where Preview is/was called fenix, so from your own website I cannot find any Firefox Preview download links or any current up to date or relevant information anywhere on your website or in support about it. so where has it gone? there are no download links, no promotions or advertising anywhere on the mozila website or anywhere else for that matter, what little information I can find on the web is months old, the last version I managed to download and the version I am still using is dated 22 July 2020, I dont get it, so how in the world do you expect people to migrate to this so called revolutionary new Firefox browser when you have nothing about it on your website and your support returns 314 result for Firefox Preview most of which are totally irrelevant and ones that mention preview are dated and not one tells us anything about the Preview browser, its progress, where it went, if it went into full production and was rebranded? nothing, so where did it go?

Hi Steve

You can download Firefox for Android through the links at:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/mobile/

Thanks for your reply, but sorry that didnt answer my question. I've followed that link already, that is where I can download Firefox for Android and if I click the download link, the download is listed as:

fennec-68.11.0.multi.android-arm.apk

However the above version is not the same as Firefox Preview aka fenix which is based on the new mozilla browser engine GeckoView! I have since found an article albeit an outdated one on another website dated July 3rd 2020

https://www.xda-developers.com/firefox-for-android-ditches-preview-builds

which led me to:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.fenix&hl=en_US&gl=US

Where I find the answer Ive been looking for:

"Please note that this app used to be titled Firefox Preview. It has now been transitioned to Firefox Nightly."

Also on the above page I found this link which is useful for anyone who wants to download the nightly experimental fenix builds to see the new features as they are implemented. "Found a bug? Report it at: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues"

Note, how it lists Firefox Preview aka fenix.

and I finally found what I was looking for Preview aka fenix is alternatively available for download at:

https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases/tag/v83.1.0-rc.2

On Google Play, the original Firefox Preview was renamed to Firefox Nightly. It kept the same package name:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.fenix

As builds of Nightly/Preview/Fenix became more stable, they replaced the old Firefox for Android and Firefox for Android Beta. So they are all based on Preview/Fenix now.

But you don't want to use Google Play?

Thanks for your reply, thats what you would expect, that all Android Firefox versions are now based on Fenix, since its that good its already superseded anything that went before, but I found it difficult to find up to date information about Fenix. For instance, If you go to the following page:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/

and follow the link at the top of the page to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.firefox

You'll find that is Firefox Daylight aka Fenix, thats based on the new geckoview engine and is the official production release, the experimental development version of Fenix (Nightly) is on google too, but Firefox for Android or Firefox Beta on Google play are fennec.

Alternatively if you go to

https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/all/#product-android-release

you might expect that Firefox Android Firefox Android Beta Firefox Android Nightly are all the Fenix versions, but theyre not theyre are all fennec downloads.

Aside from Google play, I can only find the Nightly development version of Fenix at

https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/releases/tag/v83.1.0-rc.2

If you search for Firefox in the Google Play store, the versions produced by Mozilla will be the new updated versions across the three channels (Release, Beta and Nightly).
