Hi... I have not used my Mozilla Thunderbird Email Application on my PC for a year or so and when I click on the icon to open it a password window opens. I 100% do not remember my password and have tried everyone that I can think of.

Is there a way to get into my email by resetting the password ??? If I start a new account it would be a different email address which would also be fine as long as I could export all the mailboxes and their messages from the old Thunderbird Account to the new Thunderbird Account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only place you can create/modify passwords is in the webmail account for that email address which you access via a browser.

The webmail will ask for user name/email address and password. If you do not know password there is usually a 'Forgotten Password' link. Follow the instructions to gain access to webmail account, then you can reset the password in webmail account.

Once that is done, you can then use that new password at the prompt in Thunderbird. There will also be a checkbox you can select for Password Manager to remember the password.

I appreciate your help with my question. I tried what you said and it didn’t work, not because your info is wrong but after I posted the question I found that Comcast stopped using their email servers about a year ago. All Comcast webmail and system functionality was moved to Xfinity... Xfinity is their new internet, phone & TV entertainment package. I switched over to Xfinity and my new email package is still routed through Comcast ??? And still uses @comcast.net. Problem is no one at Xfinity knows anything about the old Comcast.

Thank you so much for your help, it would have 100% worked out if they were still Comcast based.
