Why is my session data erased when switching between tabs?

I've noticed that my session data appears to be erased when switching between tabs. (Note: both of these sites do not display this problem when using other mobile browser)

Example 1: I'm logged into "social media site" in tab 1. I open a link on "social media site" in a new tab (tab 2), switch to that tab, browse for a bit, then switch back to tab 1. I'm now logged out of the site in tab 1.

Example 2: On an e-commerce site, I've added items to my shopping cart in tab 1, I open a new item in tab 2, and add the item into my shopping cart on tab 2. The items I added in tab 1 are now gone.

I'm trying to understand what's going on. Is it that every time I switch to a tab for a specific site, all session data for that site is wiped out? These scenarios make browsing social media or online shopping rather onerous on Firefox Focus, but perhaps there's just a setting I need to enable to make this work a little bit better? I switched to Firefox Focus due to concerns about tracking on certain social media sites... so in the least if someone could explain what's going on with the session data between tabs, I could alter my behaviour to avoid having to constantly log back in (and maybe online shopping is just best done in a different browser).
