Firefox stalls with multiple tabs, loses content

Using FF 49.0.2 on Windows 7 sp1 when opening multiple tabs (2 or 3), say from a Google search, each tab will eventually show its page, you click on the next tab and all of the other tabs have lost their content. Blank page with spinning circle lines, spinning icon in all tab headings. Even the original Google search tab blanks out for several seconds. Seems to have started with the last several updates, worse in 49.0.2, similar to this unanswered post: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1137883

Does not happen with IE 11. IE does occasionally report slow script on a page. Tried on laptop with Win7, FF 47.0.1 and the exact same pages tabs display fine. You can click on each tab and content is there almost immediately with no spinning icon after tabs initially load. Internet connection speed is well over over 125mb so that's not it.

Tried browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand to False as recommended by : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/allow-firefox-load-multiple-tabs-background and this did not fix. Is there a way do revert back to 47.0.1 until a fix is found?

Thanks
