Title. Thunderbird is a really cool client but it's pretty slow. I blame that on the thousands upon thousands of emails that my hotmail and gmail each hold. I don't necessarily want to delete these emails, but I have seldom a reason to have any email older than 2 months in my thunderbird client slowing and crashing the program whenever I want to combine inboxes.

To this end I went to "Synchronization & Storage" and told it to "Synchronize the most recent 2 months" but it didn't delete the huge cluster of older emails. The next option is to tell TB to delete these emails in the same menu but as I understand it that would also delete them in the server, which I don't want to do for posteriority.

What do I do?

This is the message I get when trying to send emails: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: pgbentley101@gmail.com recipient rejected. Please check the message recipient "pgbentley101@gmail.com" and try again."

Is this exclusively an effect of my cutting text in a reply-to email for brevity of my reply ?

I have been trying for two days to log in to my emails and received notification .....log in failed,try again.That resulted in the same answer.Eventually I received notification that i had been disconnected ,reason given......server down,or network problem. I need an answer and furthermore I regard the situation whereby I cannot talk to anyone,earlier contacts through these channels have resulted in no response. Short background: My account is an aol and my address is xx@aol.com. When I send an email it arrives at the recipients inbox as "from xx@aol.com" - when they reply it is to "xx@aol.com"

I have an email which is x@y.co.uk - this is good because it is in the format "<myname>@<mysurname>.co.uk" which is easy to remember. Any email to this address goes to my aol - so far so good.

My Problem: When I send an email on Thunderbird - it arrives as xx@aol.com; and someone replies it shows as xx@aol.com. What I would like to do is show it arriving as "<myname>@<mysurname>.co.uk" and with a reply-to as "<myname>@<mysurname>.co.uk". Please is this possible, if so what can I do. Finally, more important is the reply to address. If I give someone my "<myname>@<mysurname>.co.uk" email address, I would like at least for them to be able to reply to that address.

I sent you a note on Feb22nd explaining that I am having problems sending emails,incoming no problems.I am still encountering the same problems to a certain extent.You did send me a reply,however I have to admit that due to my lack of knowledge I failed to understand.This morning I tried to send a "test" message to a friend.It failed with the message "the message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server(SMTP-mail.outlook.com) timed out. However I saved the message to my drafts folder pressed Send and the message went to my friend.Following this I repeated the process with another test,that also was sent. I would appreciate greatly any advice or help you can offer me

When I receive an email and I hit reply and the original body of the incoming email disappears. I need help with the settings to have the original email included in the reply. Thanks, Garry

in the last 10 days Gmail has stopped receiving or sending mail on thunderbird in windows with a server error do not know whether it is a thunderbird,microsoft or google error possibly from an update regards

So hard to find -- hours -- multiple days --- my goodness. I have multiple folders and sub folders with my office 365 account. I'm trying to get away from Outlook. That said, how do I get Thunderbird to include all of my O365 folders? I"m almost ready to give up!!

Thunderbird ver115.8.0, Win11, 64bit Ten or so email accounts running on TB with a mix of pop3 and imap. When starting TB, it usually hangs and the only way out is to close using the X in top right. This is followed by the application wanting to report the problem to Windoze etc. Once I have canned out of this and restarted TB, everything goes well. I have default theme, no extensions or add-ons running. Cache is set to clear on shutdown. I recently deleted all .msf files. The status bar always shows one particular imap account during the hang (hang will continue until TB restarted) - that account is the first account listed in the mailbox tree in LH panel.

I have a number of messages that are linked via various contacts, when I try to reply to one the messages are almost embedded in each other, so I find it difficult to separate. Anyone got a solution please? Jim

I am trying to add my university email account that is managed by google, but I get an error message stating Thurnderbird failed to find the settings for my email account. Any help please?

I have been getting constant messages when I try to use Thunderbird about Thunderbird being unable to connect, go to Advanced and lower number. It's at 1. Still get message. Now I can't see my Inbox mail. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and the situation just gets worse. I am so flummoxed I don't know what to do. I'm a user not a programmer. How do I just start over or should I just realize that Thunderbird is not an email program I can use and go back to my ISP's Zimbra webmail?

Clicking on any link in an email produces the following message.

"This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page."

I have no idea what this means.

I have been dealing with amazon.com for many years with successful fulfillment of my orders. But, I never get any emails of acknowledgement or delivery. Recently they added a verification code which they send via email, which I do not get, and so I am forever locked out of the site. What can I do to get their transmissions ?
