I've read a lot of help on this - almost all of them say, "As you have discovered there are three visible TO/Cc/Bcc fields..." and: " type or select email address and press enter to move to next TO field".

None of that works. I have only ONE visible "To" field. It has no controls to change it to a Cc or Bcc one. There is a "CC" or "BCC" option beside the "From" field. Pressing Enter at the end of an address does precisely nothing.

Another copy of TB on another computer has all the features you gaily point to - but mine doesn't. Where do I find it?

So, I just upgraded to version 78.1 and I just hate the way it looks. The old folders used to be yellow and distinct. The new folders are white with a blue outline of the same color as the rest of the theme. I hate that. It all just looks the same, as if they are trying to hide everything with the same color. This may be the "Modern Trend" but I hate the modern trend. I like things to stay the same. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Is there a way to get the old look back? I looked through the addon themes, but there are only three that are compatible with my version and they are all crazy stuff that I hate worst than the new default theme.

It helped me a lot to differentiate between folders and other stuff. Now with the black and white display only, it is for me more difficult.

Thunderbird 78 fails to activate POP3 mail account

My old mail account is POP3 only. Incoming, POP3, mail.tpg.com.au, 110, STARTTLS, Normal Password Outgoing SMTP, smtp.tpg.com.au, 587, STARTTLS, Normal Password After many attempts Thunderbird 78 failed to add this new account.

After removing ver.78 an old ver.68 was installed and the new account was added without any problems on the first try using the settings shown above.

Does this indicate that Thunderbird v.78 is no longer compatible as a POP3 client or is this a serious bug?

The latest version of Thunderbird (91.1.2 (64-bit)) installed yesterday. Before the installation I was able to send emails on all my accounts. After the installation I cannot send emails on any of the accounts.

When I reply to an email, the send button is greyed out. When I make a new email and click on send nothing happens. I can still receive emails. There are no messages that I am doing anything wrong.

I have four separate accounts, each with their own SMTP server. Send doesn't work on any of them. My OS is Windows 10 and is up to date. My antivirus is McAfee LiveSafe (16.0) and it is up to date.

Since upgrading to 78.6.1 yesterday, my TASKS list that displays alongside my Calendar is listing all my tasks going back to when they were first created. I have gone through all of them 3 times now, ticking all the boxes to clear them off the Task list but when I restart Thunderbird they are all showing in the Tasks list again. I've tried double-clicking on an entry and then 'Edit All Occurrences', made changes and then saved again, but they all just keep reappearing in the Tasks List as if they haven't been completed??

I get the msg "This POP3 server does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you have just set up this account, please try changing to 'Password, transmitted insecurely' as the 'Authentication method' in the 'Account Settings | Server settings'. If it used to work and now suddenly fails, this is a common scenario how someone could steal your password" Thunderbird is up to date. Please does anyone know how I can change them back without having to delete them first? As they're now POP I'm not sure if the emails will be deleted if I delete the accounts, Thanks for any help!

I use Windows 7 ultimate and Thunderbird. I have 2 accounts from yahoo mail that I am using many many years by now. And many years I was able to download them to Thunderbird on my desktop. The one email account worked until February 8 and the second until February 10 this year. Then it stopped. Could not more download and not more answer emails. When I choose to Get Messages, on the bottom left it shows "Host contacted, sending login information ... ", and this stays for a good while, then I get an error message: "Sending of password for user xxxxxxxx did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error. Please try again later". And this is repeating since 8 of February. Any idea what is happening? Or what I can do to have my yahoo back working with Thunderbird?

I have been using TB for many years, but with the latest update to version 78 I cannot connect my Google contact list as the addon I used is not longer compatible. The suggestions I have read about is to use TBSync, which I have installed, but I can't get it to connect to my Google account. Each time I try autodiscover I get a message saying it has failed. I tried to manually enter the server name, but that wouldn't work either.

I can't find any support instructions in the Add In web site or on the Mozilla support site. Can anyone help?

Can I revert to an earlier version of Thunderbird?

78 hangs fetching Pop3 email

Just upgraded to ver 78 (78.4.0) on two systems. Each uses pop3 to collect mail from a gmail account and from a private server account -- different users on the two systems, but otherwise same setup. Same Account settings except for user names on the various accounts.

One system works perfectly. The other hangs when trying to collect mail, with the statusbar message "xxxx.gmail.com Connected to pop.gmail.com..." No error messages, no green status bar.

Clicking Get Messages refreshes same statusbar message instantly.

Similar message when trying to fetch from the private server.

Closed and re-opened T-bird with same result. Re-booted system and open T-bird with same result.

Any suggestions?

The configuration related to smtp.vcn.com must be corrected I have checked all settings and had the ISP check also and can not get past this error.Any help would be appreciated

About a month or so ago Thunderbird updated. After that one of my email groups of 54 addresses no longer went on separate Bcc rows but were all included in one row. That was around the time when my ip address became blacklisted by Spamhaus and MXToolbox. Now they want $100 a month in fees to ensure my emails get through because they are all being returned to me as spam now.

I want to go back to placing each of my address book contacts into SEPARATE BCC rows by using a global drag and drop, not an individual posting.

Can anyone show me how to do that as I have been unable to discover how to get back to that old way. Vic

OS is Win 10 Pro x64 21H1.

Also I cannot find the way how to open Config Editor - there is no appropriate tab in Preferences (as far as I see before hang on).

Since the last TB update, which was 4 days ago, the credentials to send email for some accounts have vanished from the Passwords list.

That leads to the error in the attached photo. Editing or updating the SMTP settings has no effect.

Long, sad story. I may have lost 25 years' worth of Thunderbird email folders - spanning most of my medical/academic career, plus personal communications (including exchanges with friends now dearly-departed), my medical records, purchase/guarantee receipts, ticket purchases, amazon, etc etc. I tried to activate the free Nomorobo on Optimum/Cablevision unsuccessfully, and in a series of tech support calls, following their directions (in retrospect eggregiously wrong), I was told to change my thunderbird password, then delete and reactivate my thunderbird account. When I did that, all my previous folders (about 150 folders) stored on my computer disappeared. This is a major data repository for the last 25 years of my life. Now, I can receive and send messages (after another several hours of "support") but my old records are gone. Can they be restored, maybe with File History? or are there any other potential things I could try. They were not backed up anywhere else, so far as I can tell. I'm not even sure where the current (almost empty inbox, sent and trash) folders are kept.

Suddenly it says "The messages you have deleted can be purged from disk" every time I move emails. Every stupid time. Probably a very useful feature but just not how I have used things for the last decade or so. At first all I wanted to say was 'thank you but no thank you" Now it is getting beyond a joke. How do I get rid of this without deleting any emails? Yes I know they are nominally deleted but I've use that as an easy way to archive them and then copy them off as a history trail. All my accounts are carefully set to "Don't delete any messages". I like that. I mean it.
