I am running Thunderbird on Linux Fedora. I have two accounts set up. One of them is an icloud account. Every day, many times per day, it prompts for password. I have a nightmare to get one for it due to the new way Apple deals with stuff like this. I have to get an 'App Specific Password', which involves logging in, which I hate doing and doesn't work because I use a VPN and Apple discriminates against VPN users and locks my account every time i login (even though it's the same IP address every time).

I did manage to generate one, which got rid of the problem for a day or two, then it came back, generated again, and so I go around, each time having to unlock icloud account, remove old password, generate a new one, paste it into TB and then its fine for a few hours/days.

Would be very grateful for any ideas why this is happening and how to cure it.

Thunderbird processes in version 125.0 are not exiting cleanly, just like it was in v115.10.1; user intervention is required via task manager to kill the the open Thunderbird processes, before Thunderbird can be restarted.

I've reported these issues before with no response. I've uninstalled reinstalled cleared cache and cookies searched another forums et cetera. Why must I manually update when it's set to auto update? When I set controls to ask where to download items it bypasses that and downloads it as a temp file where I have to cut it out of explorer and paste it where I would like to save it.

Starting today (Apr 30), when trying to open firefox the following message appears:

"Firefox is running, but not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window." My options are to close firefox or cancel.

When selecting close firefox, the message will reappear with the same options. I am unable to run.

I am able to start FF with no problem. I open a few tabs and then without warning I can't access any of the sites without closing FF and restarting. Then the whole cycle is repeated. I am considering getting rid of FF this started just over a month ago.

I'm using Firefox 124.0.2 (64 bit) on Windows, and every few days I get the error about using an older version of Firefox, with Exit or Create New Profile options. I then run "firefox -allow-downgrade" from the command prompt and everything works fine... for a few days, when it happens all over again. This only started happening a couple of weeks ago, but it's getting really annoying. How do I stop it (short of using something like Waterfox or Brave).

For some reason anything above 1080p gives me bad stuttering but on other channels videos don't stutter or freeze when playing 1440p or 4K quality.

Firefox is updated, I don't use Extensions other than Ad Blocker and I have that off on YouTube anyway. Seems strange that it'd only affect one specific channel.

I have a very good gaming PC too so the hardware isn't the issue.

My name is Grey, and I'm experiencing an issue using Firefox as a browser to open my Outlook mail. For the past three days I have not been able to open any emails as a network error screen appears. Using other devices and other browsers like Edge, the emails open fine, so it is not actually a network issue. This problem only occurs using Firefox, and specifically with Outlook emails. Everything else functions fine and I have not made any changes, besides the regular Firefox update. My computer is also up to date.

What can I do about this issue? I appreciate the advice,

Hi I am having problems with Thunderbird, i’m not sure if it’s to do with a windows 11 update or something else. Thunderbird is not responding also at the start of the ‘not responding’ emails from one of my accounts disappeared and then gradually started to reappear but didn’t get up to date and now just not responding st all. I have tried various things to resolve this, uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, doing this and opening my pc in safe mode, doing this and opening Thunderbird in safe mode. Deleting and reinstalling the latest windows 11 update, reinstalling the latest Thunderbird update. I don’t know what to try next? I read somewhere to delete your profile, after saving it, and getting a new profile but no idea how to do this. Any help appreciated.

I'm trying to watch videos on Disney plus and Amazon prime. I can't get them to work. I tried various tutorials but many were irrelevant because they referred to google chrome which I don't even have. I tried checking and unchecking the enable DRM checkbox. Widevine never seems to update. I do not know how to install in manually.

I am trying to log on to my account at SketchUp. At the login page i hit get started and a black page come up except in the top left corner is typed "Firefox not responding" the page hangs a few moments then it takes me back to SketchUp login. I have not had any recent updates done or required since last logged in and that was yesterday all worked well.

I've been running Thunderbird for years on Gentoo which has version 115.10.1 as the most recent. I don't send much mail so I'm not exactly sure when this problem occurred, but I'm unable to authenticate with my SMTP server. I have not changed any configuration. Some weeks ago a changed my password on the server, but I made the appropriate changes to Thunderbird password manager. All settings, username and passwords are 100% correct as I copy pasted all of them. IMAP on the same server (uses same credentials) works.

I have tried deleting and re-adding my accounts which did not help. I have also tried deleting my profile folder. All other mail clients (e.g. claws-mail, kmail, mailspring) with the same SMTP server don't have any problems sending mail. This problem seems to only affect Thunderbird and Thunderbird forks such as Betterbird.

I have no firewall and am using SSL authentication with cleartext password on the SMTP server.

I get the following output to console on attempted sending of message:

latest 124.0.2 causing severe problems, it will near instantly bloat to fill all RAM and SWAP even in safe mode causes system load over 24! only solution is to reboot very problematic on for ex: https://epg.pw/xmltv/epg_CA.xml hard to get a screencap since system is nearly totally unresponsive. When I right click the taskbar and press close Firefox, here comes the interface just as the screenshot uploaded. The blue close button doesn't response no matter how I click it and the Firefox's taskbar is flashing yellow. This bug only occurs on the first window of Firefox and only when user right click the taskbar.

It has been a long time for me wishing that some updates would be released soon to fix this issue, while noting happens. Or this bug is only for me?

Yesterday my Thunderbird was sending but NOT saving sent messages. I was receiving all messages. Today, however, I CANNOT RECEIVE or SEND messages. I have used Thunderbird on this computer for years . . . what has happened?

how can i stop thunderbird from interacting with windows defender anti virus scan? when ever i download or delete emails i get a few seconds of "not responding " and the whole computer is non responsive. i used to be able to turn off real time scan in security and it would work for a day and then windows would enable it again. now since the last upgrade windows isnt allowing me that option any more. solutions?

About 3-4 days ago, images no longer appeared inline and there isn't a button to show images, just an empty box. My T'bird is set to auto update, so not sure if an update caused this? Not sure if it's related, but at the same time, my rss feeds stopped due to "invalid security certificates." I did not make any changes to previous settings. Thanks for any suggestions!

I am asked to get a new password from my mail server (AOL) every day when trying to send messages. Have to log on to AOL, ask for app password, enter at Thunderbird. DAILY!
