New mail notification popup window alert is limited to 5 messages - how to increase?

By default, Thunderbird popup window displays only a list of 5 messages. I have a lot of filters, that sorts new incoming mail to different folders. Its more suitable for me to check for new letter contents by clicking hyperlinks of the messages at the popup window, and not going to every subfolder to find my message, but there are only 5 listed per popup window. I would like to increase a list to 15-20 items at window, because its much faster to check for new mail for me this way, but I have not found the option value at advanced options. Is it possible?

Thunderbird Notify, when email or message arrives.
If your using MAC, you need to change the settings in MAC
- System Preferences > Notification
- Choose Thunderbird
- Change to "Show 20 Recent Items"
- Choose Thunderbird
Thanks for your reply, but I am using Thunderbird on Windows platform (Win2k8 R2 at work and Win 8.1 at home) The method you have mentioned seems to be bound to MAC system only, still looking for some Windows based solution.
You can try the Mailbox Alert add-on and adjust the information that's displayed, although I'm not sure you could click a link to open a message.

If possible I would like to use a bare Thunderbird client, because addons often become outdated and every new version can stop them from working. I am almost sure its not a problem to setup list to display more than 5 items, the problem is that the option seems to be "hardcoded" and not possible to change as value :(
