I would like to select from dropdown menus, i.e. data I typed earlier or clothing sizes. However, Mozilla does not allow me to select any of these options. I tried reinstalling Mozilla (including cleaning folders and personal data) several, and I tried to install the add on with the 'about support button' (what does it look like, I can't seem to find it anywhere?) but to no avail. How do I do this?

Hello, can you provide a link from website that you have problem?

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

Hello Mixalis88,

Thank you for offering a possible solution to my problem. Unfortunately it doesn't work when I start Firefox in the safe modus, the problem is still there. I checked it on two websites: www.marktplaats.nl - if you type in a keyword to search, the site automatically supplies earlier keywords in the drop down menu, and I cannot select any of these. Just to be sure I also tried a webshop: Zalando.nl. I just picked a garment at random and tried to select the size, but I cannot.

Are there any other solutions you can think of?

Thank you in advance, Dora28

Are the suggestions copied to the search bar if you use the cursor up and down keys on www.marktplaats.nl?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Hello Cor-el,

Thank you, the cursor up-and-down keys on Marktplaats do indeed work as you describe. Every word on which I pass the cursor gets selected. However, I haven't succeeded in booting the computer in safe modus. If I press F8 when it is booting, I get a DOS-screen where I have to select the station from which I want the boot to start: my computer, the external hard drive or the CD-rom drive. Is there another way to get the computer to boot up in safe modus? I tried Windows help, but couldn't find anything, but maybe I am using the wrong description.

Best, Dora28

Sounds that you ended up with the BIOS screen to select from which device to boot.

You might be able to boot the computer in Safe Mode via the MSConfig program if you can't achieve this via the boot screen. You may need to run this program as Administrator.

With MSConfig I can boot the computer in safe modus, and it turns out that the problem occurs in exactly the same way. I cannot select from the drop down menu by mouseclick, but I can when using the cursor up and down keys.
