If you are talking about the real downloader (video downloader), that has been incompatible with firefox for the last couple versions. Forunately, there are many similar addons that operate the same.
Above the list of preferences in about:config is a search box. I think it used to be called the filter box but now it says search. Does that resolve the mystery?
