I have my local cable security on my computer. It is active. When I installed mozilla firefox, Mcafee security also was installed automatically. I have problems with my connections. It's very slow to connect or it is always the old version. When I try to update the system will not let me. I have gone through the Restore and all seems fine for a while. As long as I stay in the old version of mozilla firefox, all seems fine but I still get the message that I need to update as I am no longer secure. My question at this point (because I can't thing of anything alse it could be) is: The above question. Does my cable security cancel out mozilla firefox ? Should I cancel out the local cable security and then reload Mcafee. Would that work better with Mozilla firefox ???

I decided to give it another go and I just updated to 21.0. It's working really great. But I can't rest just yet. Hopefully tomorrow it will connect. Thanks for your input.

Stay tuned...........

That doesn't happen when you download Firefox directly from Mozilla.

Firefox 3.6.14 is from Feb 2011 and no longer supported. You can get the latest version of Firefox from here - http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

As far as your "cable security", which security suite does your cable company provide to their users?
Are you aware that there are many "free" security suites out there?

I prefer Avira Personal Free - http://www.free-av.com/ - because it doesn't install any add-ons in Firefox. Good antivirus protection, without the "bells and whistles".

If you are concerned about security, update to firefox 21 as Firefox 3.6 is totally insecure. Then, let us know more about what's going on.

Well, it's been a few days now since I updated and so far it is working great. I still don't know why it didn't before but as long as it is ok now. Thank you all for your help. Sure makes life a little bit easier.  :)
