Just install 9.01 and looking for the option to display bookmarks in a sidebar. Doesn't seem to be an option in the drop down menus from the upper left "Firefox" with down arrow.

I've have it working on an earlier release on a different system.

Hi edwick,

Try hitting ctrl+b to bring up the bookmarks sidebar. Hitting Alt will bring up the old menu bar items temporarily. You can also got to Firefox > Options > Menu bar to give Firefox a more familiar feel. Then you can access the sidebar from the bookmarks menu.

You should also take a look at the Knowledge Base article Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars to see how you can add the button to the tool bar for quick access.

Hopefully this helps!

Thanks much, the ctrl-b did the trick. The sidebar is a very useful feature, don't know why it is not more clearly displayed at install time. Thanks again. Ed

Yes, ctrl-b works, but what the bleep was the point of changing this? Can't you put out a fix so that the bookmarks sidebar can be set permanently as it is in Firefox 8? I have 8 on my old laptop and 9.01 on the new one and this retrogressive feature is a real pain. Why would anyone think this is an improvement??? And to add insult to injury, when I looked on the old machine just now to confirm the Firefox version, it started trying to upgrade! This is not the user-friendly Mozilla I have grown to love; it smacks more of the arrogance of Microsoft deciding what is best for users, whether they like it or not.
