My bookmarks bar moved up to the address bar, how can I move it back down?

I don't know what I did, but for some reason the bookmarks I have on the Bookmark Toolbar are now sitting right beside the address bar, while leaving the actual Bookmark Toolbar empty.

I tried to "hide" the Bookmark Toolbar to see what would happen, but only the empty bar disappeared, while the misplaced bookmarks are still present.

What did I do? How can I fix it so they're back where they belong? :(

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar

If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear

Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
