Firefox installed updates on my computer on 03/04/2011 and then Firefox started crashing. When I open Firefox it opens as normal. When I attempt to go to a website such as Google for email, Firefox will take me to the site momentarily and then I get a window that says “Firefox has stopped working”. I will back out and then I will get a window that says:

Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page You can try: Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem Starting an entirely new browsing session.

Nothing here seems to help? This doesn’t happen when attempting to go all sites but many. I’m running Firefox version 3.6.15. using Windows Vista for my operating system. I’ve tried some of the suggestions for this problem such as: -End all Firefox processes and restart Firefox -Run as Administrator -Crashes when clicking on certain links nsBrowserOpt.dll

But I still can’t get Firefox to work.

Sincerely, Marty

Have the same. It crashes even in Safe Mode. It may have something to do with Proxy or connection quality. When I disconnected VPN/Proxy (poor quality connection I had today) it started to work well.

Nuxar,

I don't know what you mean by VPN/Proxy? Where do I go to change this?

What I did do after reading your reply was I went to: Tools>Options>Advanced>Connection Settings. I found the proxy @ "Use System Proxy Settings" and changed it to each of the following NO PRXY and AUTOMATIC PROXY SETTINGS. This didn't help me I kept getting the same crash error as at first. Each time I tried to change the proxy setting I found that when I went back to check that it had defaulted back to "Use System Settings"

Any other suggestions?

Thanks Nuxar, dycon
