It works in Internet Explorer. I have done everything that Adobe had on there website and did everything on Mozilla website. I am completely lost and need some assistance. I even downloaded Java because somewhere it told me that that was what I needed to do. It didn't work.

IE uses a different version (ActiveX) of Flash than other browsers use. You need to install the Plugin version for Firefox.

1.Download the Flash setup file from here:
Adobe Flash - Plugin version.
Save it to your Desktop.

2. Close Firefox using File > Exit
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure firefox.exe is closed,
{XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}

3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).

See this:

Adobe somewhere on related sites have standalone installer files, last time I had a problem I found and used them, saving them to my computer and installing whilst I was offline. I suspect their Download Manager System could have a few glitches sometimes.

I can not remember their install may need Java, I do remember on a recent update having to update their update manager or whatever it is called.

Try using firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode or even use IE to search for and download the necessary ff version of FlashPlayer

how exactly do I do that?

  • once you have saved, or copied the installation file, to your desktop you will normally be able to see it on the desktop as an icon
  • you will already have closed down firefox and should not leave anything else running so you should be able to see your desktop
  • the icon is likley to be showing a name something like install_flash_player.exe

Double click the icon and it will run ie it will start the install process.

Exactly which step of this process are you having a problem with??
You are unable to download the setup file from the hyperlink I posted on 12/29/10?
You can't find that file once it has been downloaded?
You can't start the installation by double-clicking on that setup file?
