Installing latest version on MAC running snow leopard fails and gives me this error message: ”The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.“
On MAC OS 10.6.4, with FF 3.0.19 installed, an update installation gave me the above error when copying the firefox.app into the applications folder. I restarted the MAC, I ran the disk utility to repair permissions but this didn't help.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.
Install the new version that you have downloaded.
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
