When I click bookmarks, tools etc, all the menus are in dark mode. I want them back to normal mode. I had the same problem about a year back and I had to dig in some firefox settings file to revert this dumb and unwanted change, but I cannot for the life of me remember how or where, so any pointers are appreciated. :(

I found the solution in this topic:

The solution is by cor-el at the very bottom.

Well, now there is another problem. Firefox does not save these settings, even though I click "save".

Anyone knows a solution for this?

I tried making my own theme with firefox color, but it only applies to the background of the browser now, whereas at the very least it worked fine yesterday.

Why is everything so bad with this browser now? Why can't they just leave it alone. If anybody has any idea what's going on, please post here.

Themes that use auto mode, including Firefox Color, use the theme's colors to decide dark mode and this is subject to change between versions. This can be avoided by using a theme that explicitly sets the light/dark mode via color_scheme in manifest.json.

Thanks for the reply. I have no idea what you just said. lol :(

The original problem was my theme that I used for years and years suddenly had stuff in dark mode since the update, and when trying to get rid of it with these things in about:config -

   browser.theme.content-theme = 1
   browser.theme.toolbar-theme = 1

My browser doesn't save it. That's why I tried to use a temporary theme via Firefox color, which my browser forgot the next time I launched it. And now I can't use Firefox color either. It don't matter.

What matters is getting the top two values to work and save. How do I do this, please?

You need to keep the Firefox Color extension enabled for it to work, choose a lighter color for the "Toolbar Color" if you want light mode.

The easiest approach is to choose a different theme that gives you the result you want.

But the theme had the result I wanted till the latest update to Firefox... and pure lightmode sucks. I don't like this forced either/or thing it tries to shove down my throat.

Firefox color extension is enabled but it doesn't apply my themes to the top of the browser. I just want my old theme back without forced darkmode. How do I make the browser save these settings?

browser.theme.content-theme = 1 browser.theme.toolbar-theme = 1
