Change in downloading behavior
Suddenly, as of this morning, downloading is behaving differently-in a bad way.
• The first problem is that downloads are no longer showing their bit rate; I cannot tell how fast or slow a given download is progressing. I have different available servers and need to select the best for the situation.
• The second is that, upon completion of an mp4 download, my media player (VLC) opens the file and starts playing it, which didn't happen before. It's extremely distracting.
I can't find anything in Firefox preferences which might alter these behaviors.
I don't know enough about these particular events to know whether to attribute them to Firefox or to the website that is providing the files.

Here are some images to clarify my problem. (The names of the files being downloaded are deleted.) I am uncertain as to which order they will appear so bear in mind that: • The download screen with a full set of information is taken from my laptop. • The download screen with only "Opening in (unit of time)..." is from my iMac.
Both machines are running Mojave and Firefox 101.0.1. All downloads are from the same web source.
Bear in mind that the other problem that is occurring on my iMac is that the downloads start playing automatically once the download has finished.
I have been posting about this here for a few days and gotten no response. I really hope someone can help me out here. Thank you!
